Working with Xpos grew my business
David Fulcher
Director of Golf, Edbgaston Golf Club
We started working with David when he was Head Professional and took over the shop business in 2015. Like many golf professionals, David had limited retail experience when he took on the running of his shop. He was cautious, having been tolf how challenging it can be to run a golf retail business.
An immediate priority was to quickly build on his existing retail knowledge and skills to maximise his chances of success.
David asked to work closely with our experts to get to grips with what he needed to do to turn the business around. With our help, he was soon able to identify the business’ key performance indicators using the reports within Xpos. This allowed him to streamline his business and keep stock holding to a minimum.
Within just nine months, David was on track. As a consequence, David was able to maintain a stock turn of greater than six. This meant that, while his stock holding was minimal, he was able to improve turnover, reduce discounting and increase margins.
Largely thanks to David’s new-found passion for numbers, the business doubled its profits each year for the first three years and now turns over more than £200,000.
The pro shop benefits from Xpos integrations including Xcaddie, Xmail and our integrated payment solution, Xeft.
It isn’t just about software. It’s everything that comes with Xpos – the tools and insights that all enhance my retail knowledge and help me to take action and build a better business
As a multi-course management company, one of the best things of the cloud software is being able to see everything from our head office. Remote access has been a game changer and we can now report through the cloud without the need to bother the club mangers directly for information.
Technology plays a vital role in how we operate and it’s essential that our systems can stand up to what we need them to do.
The implementation of Xpos forms part of our overall formula at Synergy Golf and that’s probably the best complement I can pay it. My role is to make the big tech decisions and, for many years now, I’ve entrusted Xpos as our Epos provider. We use the system from its very basic capabilities through to a programme that drives everything: bar, driving range, golf shop and green fees. We trust it implicitly. This trust is not only based on the knowledge that Xpos is a highly advanced technology company, but also that they continue to invest in their support for clients. This was a key factor in our decision to move away from previous vendors who could not deliver the same support
Andy Kenny,
Director, Synergy Golf
We’ve used Xpos for four years. It’s an easy system to navigate. Our last Epos didn’t generate the right reports and wasn’t detailed enough. Xpos lets you break down sizes and colours and the reports give you a huge advantage.
The more information I put into the system, the more I get out. This year, we’ve started to dig deeper into sub-groups – for example, the Accessories category is now broken down to ball markers, club covers, etc. As a result, I’ll soon have more detail which will help me to make informed decisions.
The Performance Dashboard is a favourite feature. It gives us a snapshot of sales figures, and other key metrics, at any time of the day. Sometimes I use it to set an end of day target and give the team a challenge. It’s motivating for staff to see the numbers go up and to know they’ve contributed to that

Retail Manager, Royal Portrush
We switched to the Xpos cloud software earlier this year and I’m delighted with it. “Life-changing” might sound sad, but being able to work from home has meant I’m so much more flexible. I can even spend more time with my family as I can log in at convenient times.
The new software makes it much easier to manage everything including accounts, invoicing and customers, and I’m considering a loyalty programme for next year.
The Xpos software is constantly evolving, which means my business stays ahead of the curve as well. It’s an independent company and uniquely placed when it comes to the wider industry. As a result, we get great insights from the team and it’s good to work with people who enjoy crunching numbers as much as I do. They’re always happy to sit down and strategise with me, which is invaluable

Head Professional, Long Ashton Golf Club
I really can’t see any draw backs from the new system. Being able to access it from home or abroad is a huge positive for me, and is something the old system wouldn’t let you do. From a time-saving point of view, it’s great.
My PC broke a few months ago and, thankfully, I didn’t lose any data as it was all in the cloud. I know people think it won’t happen to them, but it really is something to consider.
The stocktaking app, Xapp Pro, is brilliant. It’s easy to use and we can stocktake using the barcode scanner and our phones.
I just think Xpos has got it right. The system is specifically designed for golf and sports, which is where other companies fall down. It’s easy to navigate and very intuitive. It took us no time at all to learn how to use the software and I just can’t fault it
Oliver Cross,
Head Professional, Brough Golf Club
We moved to Xpos’s cloud solution a month ago and I’m loving it. It’s easier to use than my last system and very intuitive.
Stocktaking is a completely different experience with the new Bluetooth scanner and Xapp Pro app. We did a complete hardware stocktake in just over four minutes this week. We carry four major brands but because everything is barcoded, it’s so simple. All the team has the app on their phones, and they love it
Darren Everett,
Director of Golf, Exeter Golf and Country Club
The biggest thing for me has been how the system has improved our stock control. We now use the new stocktaking app, Xapp Pro, along with our barcode scanner, and, what used to take a whole day now takes less than an hour! The scanner recognises every barcode and it really is a breath of fresh air. We’re stocktaking more regularly now so I know that when I give my accountant the numbers, I’ll be bang on the money
